The Knitted Knockers Knit-a-thon took place yesterday (Sat 12 May) at Northside Primary School, in Gaborone.
The Colorado team brought yarn, needles and their knowledge, to the knitting team. Women came from as far as Mohembo, Maun and Serowe to attend the workshop. The knitters also included one man, from Otse Hospice. The Fighters - a local support group for people living with cancer - was also represented. The group was learning to knit and crochet breast prosthesis, to be given away to women who have lost their own breasts due to breast cancer. At the end of the day, the Colorado ladies donated bags of Knitted Knockers, to be given away through Princess Marina Hospital. The knitting ladies from Just a little Yarn Shop were given supplies in order to continue making knockers locally.
