ANNUAL OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The Journey of Hope Botswana (JOHB) is registered as a non-profit organisation in Botswana (Registration number CR 8865).
JOHB is a charity which educates people and raises awareness throughout Botswana about breast cancer and its signs and symptoms.
Since its inception in 2009, the JOHB team has:
Our main annual event is the Big Journey – a national campaign where breast cancer awareness and free breast examinations are conducted at clinics and health posts targeting areas throughout Botswana.
In addition to the Big Journey, other events are held or attended throughout the year, further raising funds to ensure that the message of breast cancer awareness is never far from the minds of the people of Botswana.
Activities and Events
The Big Journey
How the Big Journey works:
The Big Journey is our annual trip to towns and villages throughout Botswana, where we take breast examinations to the community. Most Journeys cover at least 1 000km, if not more, and lasts for a week.
Before arrival at a town or village the team pre-arranges visits to medical facilities (through liaison with the respective District Health Management Teams). A visit to the Kgotla is also arranged where necessary.
With practice and experience JOHB is able to maximise opportunities to meet people, form lasting relationships and partnerships and disseminate information and teaching tools in order to draw attention to the cause.
The Golf Day
An annual Golf Day is our primary fundraising event. It is a favourite of our sponsors and supporters and has always been a great success.
The Golf Day format is a perfect vehicle for supporters to work toward the common goal of raising much-needed funds to keep the JOHB ball rolling, as well as providing the opportunity to showcase their own brands as official sponsors.
