BTU Commemoration of International Women's Day

Today we had an engaging awareness session with the BTU (Mogoditshane Region) as part of their Commemoration of International Women's Day Tea Session. The speakers included:
Ms Ratanang Baleseng (GBV)
Ms Onica Lekuntwane (Breast Cancer)
Ms Mponwane (Motswana Woman NGO) — at Yarona Country Lodge.

The Journey of Hope Botswana is a not for profit organisation of volunteers whose aim is to promote breast cancer awareness in the country.

Since breast cancer is one of the most treatable forms of cancer, early detection is a crucial part of the Journey of Hope Botswana mission.

The number of new cases of breast cancer and breast cancer deaths in sub-Saharan Africa is rising. Many women in Botswana, particularly in remote areas, die needlessly from a lack of information and awareness of the disease. Visiting rural areas and speaking to these women is imperative.

For this reason Journey of Hope Botswana runs an annual Big Journey, in which volunteers, many of whom are breast cancer survivors, embark on an odyssey, riding pink scooters to spread breast cancer awareness in Botswana.
